Problems that upset you, oh.
Don't you know
Everything's alright, yes, everything's fine.
And we want you to sleep well tonight.
Let the world turn without you tonight.
If we try, we'll get by, so forget all about us tonight
Everything's alright, yes, everything's alright, yes.
Sleep and I shall soothe you, calm you, and anoint you.
Myrrh for your hot forehead, oh.
Then you'll feel
Everything's alright, yes, everything's fine.
And it's cool, and the ointment's sweet
For the fire in your head and feet.
Close your eyes, close your eyes
And relax, think of nothing tonight.
Woman your fine ointment, brand new and expensive
Should have been saved for the poor.
Why has it been wasted? We could have raised maybe
Three hundred silver pieces or more.
People who are hungry, people who are starving
They matter more than your feet and hair!
Try not to get worried, try not to turn on to
Problems that upset you, oh.
Don't you know
Everything's alright, yes, everything's alright, yes.
Surely you're not saying we have the resources
To save the poor from their lot?
There will be poor always, pathetically struggling.
Look at the good things you've got.
Think while you still have me!
Move while you still see me!
You'll be lost, and you'll be sorry when I'm gone.
Sleep and I shall soothe you, calm you and anoint you.
Myrrh for your hot forehead/
Then you'll feel
Everything's alright, yes, everything's fine.
And it's cool and the ointment's sweet
For the fire in your head and feet.
Close your eyes, close your eyes, and relax
Think of nothing tonight.
Everything's alright, yes, everything's alright, yes.
I HOPE WE ALL HAVE SOMEONE IN OUR LIVES WHO WILL SING US THIS SONG TO COMFORT US EVEN WHEN WE KNOW THINGS WILL NOT BE ALRIGHT ANYTIME SOON

I used to get seriously loaded and then sing this song to myself as I drifted off to some awesome intoxocated state of unconsciousness. Judas always is way too angry in this song. I would love to see a version where he is more confused and somber rather than ape shit angry. This musical used to be number one in my life. It provided many hours of inspiration and joy. Now it is like mowing the lawn.
I used to watch this movie when I was a kid - this musical has some great songs
I agree - Judas does go a little over the top in this one
This video made me go back and watch other songs
Oh wow - this musical was made for the 70's
I don't think it would have been so cheesily amazing, in any other decade
It's just the perfect fit
I saw a version of this at Carousel Theater right here in the Fort
They made a valiant effort and some of them were good
But it was one of those shows where you had to stifle laughter because it was so bad
I love those kind of shows
Then I stop and think - was I ever in a show like that? One that was that bad?
.....
No. We only did amazing shows.
We hosted the regional university theatre convention at my school during collage. I was in A Man For All Seasons. I was the Spanish ambassador. I know for a fact the show was God awful. Luckily there were other shows that were far far Faaaaaaaar worse. I have only walked out of a play once in my life and it was a play at that convention. I just couldn't take it any more.
I would walk out of any show Chris was in.
Well that's what friends are for
