Love me tender, love me sweet
Never let me go
You have made my life complete
And I love you so
Love me tender, love me true
All my dreams fulfill
For, my darling, I love you
And I always will
Love me tender, love me long
Take me to your heart
For it's there that I belong
And we'll never part
Love me tender, love me true
All my dreams fulfill
For, my darling, I love you
And I always will
Love me tender, love me dear
Tell me you are mine
I'll be yours through all the years
Till the end of time
Love me tender, love me true
All my dreams fulfill
For, my darling, I love you
And I always will
You have made my life complete
And I love you so
Love me tender, love me true
All my dreams fulfill
For, my darling, I love you
And I always will
Love me tender, love me long
Take me to your heart
For it's there that I belong
And we'll never part
Love me tender, love me true
All my dreams fulfill
For, my darling, I love you
And I always will
Love me tender, love me dear
Tell me you are mine
I'll be yours through all the years
Till the end of time
Love me tender, love me true
All my dreams fulfill
For, my darling, I love you
And I always will

In high school I loved Elvis. I had a a bunch of his songs on cassette and I memorized them. This one was one of my favorites. Also nic cage does a great version of an Elvis song in wild at heart. Then one day I just kinda stopped loving him. Now when I hear an Elvis song I don’t really feel anything. Except blue moon. That’s a great one.
So this song is actually a Civil War song called 'Aura Lea'
It was a really popular song in the barbershop quartet circuit for a hot minute
But Elvis's writing team stole the melody and just decided to write new lyrics
...And 'Love Me Tender' was born
It has been covered (using the same lyrics) more than any other Elvis song
In fact, it's also number 3 on the most covered songs of all time
Even Roland the Rat, an 80's British Puppet
~ hit #32 on the 84' UK charts with his version
Now if I was to cover one of his songs, it would probably be
'I Can't Help Falling In Love With You'
and that's, in large part, for the cover of that song
at the end of the movie 'Some Kind Of Wonderful'
Isn't it just amazing when movie hits it, right on the nose, with a perfect song?
That's the stuff
