I Whistle a Happy Tune from The King and I

Whenever I feel afraid
I hold my head erect
And whistle a happy tune
So no one will suspect I'm afraid
While shivering in my shoes
I strike a careless pose
And whistle a happy tune
And no one ever knows I'm afraid
The result of this deception
Is very strange to tell
For when I fool the people
I fear I fool myself as well
I whistle a happy tune
And every single time
The happiness in the tune
Convinces me that I'm not afraid
Make believe you're brave
And the trick will take you far
You may be as brave
As you make believe you are
You may be as brave
As you make believe you are
While shivering in my shoes
I strike a careless pose
And whistle a happy tune
And no one ever knows I'm afraid
The result of this deception
Is very strange to tell
For when I fool the people
I fear I fool myself as well
I whistle a happy tune
And every single time
The happiness in the tune
Convinces me that I'm not afraid
Make believe you're brave
And the trick will take you far
You may be as brave
As you make believe you are

Follow the advice of this song and you have a recipe for misery and retarded growth. Feel scared? Just bury your feelings, deny them and pretend to be something you're not. Hell you may even succeed in bullshiting yourself! Sadly we do bullshit ourselves much too often and our true emotions are never felt or understood. Thus we remain strangers to ourselves. And we go about our lives under some illusion. Never free. Never happy. But hey, at least life is SWELL!!

Wow a very insightful comment. This is the way they rolled in the 50s. Then, In the 60s it was balls-out about personal freedom. Then the seventies was balls-out about feelings . Then it was the 80s balls-out about big hair and a boob scene in every R rated movie. The 90's were balls-out about ultra violent movies with punchy dialogue. The Aughts were balls out about fighting for our civil liberties. And so it goes. Basically the balls have been out since the end of the 50s and the right-wing have been desperately trying to push them back in. Well the balls are never going back in! You hear that righty tighty? The balls stay out!!!
