Beast of Burden by The Rolling Stones

I'll never be your beast of burden
My back is broad, but it's a-hurting
All I want, for you to make love to me
I'll never be your beast of burden
I've walked for miles, my feet are hurting
All I want is for you to make love to me

Am I hard enough?
Am I rough enough?
Am I rich enough?
I'm not too blind to see

I'll never be your beast of burden
So let's go home and draw the curtains
Music on the radio
Come on, baby, make sweet love to me

Am I hard enough?
Am I rough enough?
Am I rich enough?
I'm not too blind to see

Oh, little sister
Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty girls
You're a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty girl
Pretty, pretty, such a pretty, pretty, pretty girl
Come on, baby, please, please, please

I'll tell you, you can put me out on the street
Put me out with no shoes on my feet
But put me out, put me out
Put me out of misery, yeah
All your sickness, I can suck it up
Throw it all at me, I can shrug it off
There's one thing, baby, I don't understand
You keep on telling me I ain't your kind of man

Ain't I rough enough? Ooh, honey
Ain't I tough enough?
Ain't I rich enough? In love enough?
Ooh, please

I'll never be your beast of burden
I'll never be your beast of burden
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never be
I'll never be your beast of burden
I've walked for miles, my feet are hurting
All I want is you to make love to me, yeah
I don't need no beast of burden
I need no fussing, I need no nursing
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never be

Charlie Watts always seemed like a rad dude. You could tell by the way he smiled as if he had the secret to life. Mick jagger has a very unique voice and lots of charm. I always loved that video about waiting on a friend and the song was good. This song about beast of burden is good. I never owned a single stones album. And I’ve only ever heard what was on MTV and the radio and from Dan’s dad. But everything I heard was decent. I should probably do a deep dive someday and see what all the buzz is about. They certainly have one heck of a rad t shirt. Dan can you recommend some good albums? Also, I remember being inspired by the way mick jagger danced and moved his body. That dude was feelin some serious groove and expressed it.

Charlie's always been my favorite - keeping his cool amongst the chaos

He was known for his dry wit, avoiding the classic rock star spotlight, and was regarded as the ultimate gentleman of rock n' roll

The story behind this song and album was that Keith and his girlfriend were busted for drugs in Toronto

The possible sentence was 8 years in prison, so they made this album thinking it might be their last

The band went to France for the winter and went to work on 'Some Girls'

~Now when it comes to The Stones albums you should listen to, here's my take:

'Between the Buttons' is the last album of their early work that has some gems

Then in 68' they go on a run of one great album after the next

'Beggars Banquet' starts with 'Sympathy for the Devil'

'Let It Bleed' ends with 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'

'Sticky Fingers' is brilliant

'Exile On Main Street' is a masterpiece, arguably their best of all

They follow that up with 'Goats Head Soup' and 'It's Only Rock N Roll'

'Black and Blue', 'Some Girls' and then 'Tattoo You'

'Tattoo You' has the 'Waiting on a Friend' song (which is great)

Now this is their last good album, it's all downhill from here

- everything past this ranges from bad to embarrassing

But from 1968 to 1981, they were butter and they were on a roll

I saw them on their No Filter tour. The last before Charly went to the big gig in the sky. It was a great concert. I was amazed that Jagger could still jump around like a 20-year-old. That is the opposite of my experience with the Violent Femms. They looked old. That's because they were.

I suppose most bands have their hay-day and then fade into irrelevance. Michael Stipe had it right when he pulled the plug on REM and said they had done what they come to do. I heard he has a solo album of sea chantys.

I am now going to have to listen to these Stones albums with my good ear which is actually not so good and that's why I don't listen to music no more other than Jazz. But if I can sit quietly and play it into my hearing aid I can listen.

Charly was great. He was the calm one.
