You Don't Know Me by Shirley Horn

You give your hand to me
And then you say hello
I can hardly speak
My heart is beating so
And anyone can tell
You think you know me well
But you don't know me
Oh you don't know the one
That thinks of you at night
Who longs to kiss your lips
And yearns to squeeze you tight
No I'm just a friend
That's all I've ever been
You just don't know me
I never knew the art of making love
Though my heart aches with love for you
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by
The chance that you might love me too
You give your hand to me
And then you say goodbye
I watch you walk away
Beside the lucky guy
You'll never, never know
The one who loves you so
You just don't know me
I never knew the art of making love
Though my heart aches with love for you
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by
The chance that you might love me too
You give your hand to me
And then you say goodbye
I watch you walk away
Beside the lucky guy
Who'll never, never know
The one who loves you so
You just don't know me
You'll never, ever know
mmmm, cause you just don't know me

ITS ALL JUST HONKING HORNS BRA... THATS ALL IT IS. HONKING HORNS

I have felt this way before. Oh man have I ever. But the sad thing is she don't want to know you and she don't care. you want her so badly because you think her love will fill the empty void inside. But she is too busy chasing after someone else she thinks will fill the void inside her. And so it goes. And so it goes.

Yes I am glad that part is over.

I send you flowers but I never sign my name, sit for hours by the phone...meanwhile, she hasn't thought about me once!

Yeah, she'll never know, but (besides regret) there's also that glimmer of hope, that spark in the dark, & sometimes that's all you really need.

I know I've watched many a beauty walk right by, but at least I got to enjoy the view.
