That's What's Up by Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros

I'll be the church, you be the steeple
You be the King, I'll be the people
While I was feeling such a mess, I thought you'd leave me behind
While I was being such a wreck, I thought you'd treat me unkind
But you helped me change my mind

I'll be the sun, you be the shining
You be the clock, I'll be the timing
While I was feeling such a mess, I thought you'd leave me behind
While I was feeling so upset, I thought the sun never shine

Then I found Forever
Hey! Hey! love!
We've been best friends forever darling
That's' what's up!

Forever!
No matter what!
You've got my love to lean on darling
That's what's up!
You've got my love to lean on darling
No matter what!

You be the book, I'll be the binding
You be the words, I'll be the rhyming
While I was feeling such a wreck, I thought of losing my mind
While I was feeling such a mess, I thought the sun never shine

You be the bird, I'll be the feather
We'll be the best of friends forever
While I was feeling such a mess I thought you'd leave me behind
When I was feeling such a wreck, I thought you'd treat me unkind

Then I'll find
Forever! And Always!
You've got my love to lean on darling
All the days!
Forever!
Come what may!
You've got my love to lean on darling
All the days!

You've got my love to lean on darling
All the days
All of our days
Yeah...
Love is a shelter
Love is a cause
Love goes on forever
Yeah, Love will leads us all
Love! It is our honor
Love! It is our all
Love goes on forever
Yeah, Love it is our home

Oh yeah!
Yeah! That's what's up!
Oh yeah!
That's what's up!
Yeah That's what's up!

YOU JUST KEEP YOUR STEEPLE TO YOURSELF

Wow. I know that video is supposed to be cute but it kinda depressed me. It wasn't that funny and it mostly just made me think how lame being an adult is. This kinda thing was done really well in bugsy Malone. Now that was rad. This is not as rad. But I'm sure the kids had fun shooting it. Well maybe they didn't. Maybe it just made them scared to grow up and be lame.

Bugsy Malone is one of my all time favorite movies from my childhood

I love the soundtrack - I even tracked it down and found it on CD

'Bad Guys' and 'So You Wanna Be a Boxer' are great frickin songs

This song has some cool lines, but one stuck out for me

'I'll be the sun, you be the shining' - I get the intentions of the lyric

But all I hear is I'll be the sun, you be the scary Stephen King movie where blood comes pouring down the stairs

Maybe it's just me

Then there's the part in the song where it's nothing but clapping and singing

I dig it when songs can pull that off, there's just something about it

I have a couple of these guys songs, they have some catchy stuff

Yes that shining part got me too. I think what he is really saying is "you lock yourself in the bathroom, I will chop my way through." So she should run away from that dude unless she wants to play Shelly Duvall to his Nicholson. The Shining came out when I was 8 years old. I saw the trailer on TV and it scared me so bad I had to sleep on the floor next to my parents bed for a week, much to the disgust of my Father.
