The Original Tap Dancing Kid by Jimmie Spheeris

my brother was a thunderbolt
the original tap dancing kid
I would have given anything
just to sing the way he did
he'd serenade the wayward girls
beneath the moon and the stars
sneak down by the water hole
smokin' one of dad's cigars
the girls were wild about him
Jenny even flipped her lid
my brother was a thunderbolt
the original tap dancing kid
he said he'd blaze a trail around the sun
and no one could hold him back
he'd shoot the rapids on the mighty river
and howl like Wolfman Jack
they give our boy a glad hand
they said "Son, what you gonna do?"
"I'm gonna roam my happy hunting grounds
In my funky pair of canvas shoes"
the girls were wild about him
Jenny even flipped her lid
my brother was a thunderbolt
the original tap dancing kid
now he's just a drifter
and he rides on the tail of the wind
every time I see the Jackson Five
well I always think of him
he says "Listen to me brother
Is there hope for a native son?"
well don't expect no fanfare kid
they only give it to you when you're young
the girls were wild about him
Jenny even flipped her lid
my brother was a thunderbolt
the original tap dancing kid

IT IS TRUE. THEY ONLY GIVE IT TO YOU WHEN YOU'RE YOUNG.

Wow. That is one rad album cover. Who the hell is this dude? Never heard of jimmy speiers. Well the music is perfectly mediocre 70's. I love it. And the song could have been written for me. I am the tap dancing kid. Joy and glory in my youth. And now a hobo of gloom. This song is perfect.

I never heard of this guy either

Cool lyrics

Music is dead on for that 70's cheese sound

He sounds like Jim Croce's second cousin

and the tap dancing reminds me of Bugsy Malone

This song could've been in that movie

I want to learn to tap dance so that I can wear taps wherever I go so I can tap dance as I walk and so I can tap dance whenever I have to give unpleasant news to someone.
