Brass In Pocket by The Pretenders

Got brass in pocket
Got bottle, I'm gonna use it
Intention, I feel inventive
Gonna make you, make you, make you notice

Got motion, restrained emotion
Been driving Detroit leaning
No reason, just seems so pleasing
Gonna make you, make you, make you notice

Gonna use my arms
Gonna use my legs
Gonna use my style
Gonna use my side step
Gonna use my fingers
Gonna use my, my, my imagination

'Cause I gonna make you see
There's nobody else here
No one like me
I'm special so special
I gotta have some of your attention give it to me

Got rhythm I can't miss a beat
Got new skank it's so reet
Got something I'm winking at you
Gonna make you, make you, make you notice

'Cause I gonna make you see
There's nobody else here
No one like me
I'm special, so special
I gotta have some of your attention
Give it to me
'Cause I gonna make you see
There's nobody else here
No one like me
I'm special, so special
I gotta have some of your attention

Give it to me

How is having brass in your pocket gonna help win the love of your man? Exactly what types of brass items can you actually have in your pocket? And how is having new skank gonna help? My understanding of the word skank is that it’s not exactly a positive attribute one wants to be associated with. This song is awesome. Chrissy Hines is rad. Very very rad. Makes me happy.

Yeah Chrissie Hynde is a badass

The Pretenders always seemed like a band of cool kids

Especially because they discovered the Violent Femmes - who were just playing outside one of their concerts

Ok so 'Brass' is northern English slang for money

'Skank' is slang for a dance

And 'Reet' is slang for alright

I just looked that up, so now we all know

Makes a little more sense - those silly English
