Boys Don't Cry by The Cure

 I would say I'm sorry

If I thought that it would change your mindBut I know that this timeI have said too muchBeen too unkind
I tried to laugh about itCover it all up with liesI tried to laugh about itHiding the tears in my eyes'Cause boys don't cryBoys don't cry
I would break down at your feetAnd beg forgiveness, plead with youBut I know that it's too lateAnd now there's nothing I can do
So I try to laugh about itCover it all up with liesI try to laugh about itHiding the tears in my eyes'Cause boys don't cryBoys don't cry
I would tell you that I loved youIf I thought that you would stayBut I know that it's no useAnd you've already gone away
Misjudged your limitsPushed you too farTook you for grantedThought that you needed me more, more, more
Now I would do most anythingTo get you back by my sideBut I just keep on laughingHiding the tears in my eyes'Cause boys don't cryBoys don't cry
Boys don't cry

This is one of the songs that is in Sarah’s playlist and whenever we are driving she is in charge of music. So I have been hearing it a lot lately. 80’s music has a very specific sound that I thought would never be repeated. But she just played me a new song that I had never heard and it sounded EXACTLY like an old 80’s song. I said who is this ? She said it was new song by some French band. So apparently that 80’s sound is back. I say thank god. Music today is generally not as interesting as older music. Not to say there isn’t great stuff happening now. Just less.
Also, boys actually do cry. Also this video is kinda slow and boring

I feel like Wheezer must have been influenced by their sound. Especially the lead guitar. I was learning from a vocal coach about the idea of pitching your voice forward in what they call a cry. I think the secret to the cures vocals is that the dude always sounds like he's about to cry. Very effective for triggering teen hormones and I guess old dude hormones also.

I remember discovering The Cure in Junior High when my cousin Carol let me tape her copy of Staring at the Sea - The Singles

The Album 'KIss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me' was a huge part of high school

And I remember going with Chris to Woody's parties where he played their new album 'Disintegration' on repeat

Boys most definitely do cry, even if were not supposed to

An old friend said that it's quite healthy to fit in a few good cries a week if you can

I make the best of mixes for a lot of my favorite artists, and The Cure's best of is one helluva mix
