Satellite by Dave Matthews Band

Satellite in my eyes
Like a diamond in the sky
How I wonder
Satellite strung from t he moon
And the world your balloon
Peeping Tom for the mother station

Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasen
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down, all around, hey satellite

Satellite headlines read
Someone's secrets you've seen
Eyes and ears have been
Satellite dish in my yard
Tell me more, tell me more
Who's the king of your Satellite Castle?

Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasen
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down, all around, hey satellite
Rest high above the clouds no restriction
Television we bounce round the world
And while I spend these hours
Five senses reeling
I laugh about the weatherman's satellite eyes

Satellite in my eyes
Like a diamond in the sky
How I wonder
Satellite strung from the moon
And the world your balloon
Peeping Tom for the mother station

Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasen
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down, all around, hey satellite

Rest high above the clouds no restriction
Television we bounce round the world
And while I spend these hours
Five senses reeling
I laugh about the weatherman's satellite eyes

SAW THEM AT THE SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF IN SANTA FE BEFORE THEY WERE ANYONE

I was at that concert with you. Lame that you don't remember that. This song is a great example of how music can drastically make a song better. I loved this song. But never once knew what it was about. Used to sing it all the time. How lame I was. This song is literally about a Fucking satellite. Sure you could say that it represents humankind's evil technology and how spying on people is all fucked up but who gives a shit? That is uninteresting. But the music is beautiful. What a waste of good music. Lame

Wow dude. I think you are mentally ill. You only see negative. This song is not about a satellite literally. The satellite is a metaphor of being above it all looking down and seeing a beautiful world. Being removed from all the chaos. Its a good song and good lyrics. You need a shrink. Get the wizard to be your councilor.

No. Actually no. If you want to use a metaphor for being in love and looking down on the beautiful world you would use a cloud, or the sun, or a bird. Not a piece of ugly metal that costs millions of dollars and pollutes the atmosphere. Have you ever seen a Fucking satellite? Totally retarded

Oh this thread cracks me up. It truly is a beautiful song with a strange metaphor, indeed. Dave Matthews has some good songs, but his second album was probably the best. 'Proudest Monkey' was my favorite.
I saw them in concert at Red Rocks in the rain, and it was money well spent.
