Only Happy When it Rains by Garbage

I'm only happy when it rains
I'm only happy when it's complicated
And though I know you can't appreciate it
I'm only happy when it rains

You know I love it when the news is bad
And why it feels so good to feel so sad
I'm only happy when it rains

Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me
Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me

I'm only happy when it rains
I feel good when things are going wrong
I only listen to the sad, sad songs
I'm only happy when it rains

I only smile in the dark
My only comfort is the night gone black
I didn't accidentally tell you that
I'm only happy when it rains

You'll get the message by the time I'm through
When I complain about me and you
I'm only happy when it rains

Pour your misery down (Pour your misery down)
Pour your misery down on me (Pour your misery down)
Pour your misery down (Pour your misery down)
Pour your misery down on me (Pour your misery down)
Pour your misery down (Pour your misery down)
Pour your misery down on me (Pour your misery down)
Pour your misery down

You can keep me company
As long as you don't care

I'm only happy when it rains
You wanna hear about my new obsession?
I'm riding high upon a deep depression
I'm only happy when it rains (Pour some misery down on me)

I'm only happy when it rains (Pour some misery down on me)
I'm only happy when it rains (Pour some misery down on me)
I'm only happy when it rains (Pour some misery down on me)
I'm only happy when it rains (Pour some misery down on me).

SINCE EVERYTHING IS GARBAGE.... HERE IS SOME GARBAGE

Wow, forgot about this band

It sparked a memory for their song 'Stupid Girl'

I like the line 'I only smile in the dark'

So this is a song for Eeyore, he would dig this

Yeah I've worked with a few people like this ~ and we're just characters in their soap opera

I mean lighten up, Francis

I do love the smell of rain, though

It reminds me of many good times

And I heard out of all the senses, the sense of smell has the strongest link to memory

So now it all makes sense

It's true. Most people are indeed only happy when it rains. We love to live in our misery. We enjoy always having something wrong in our lives. It done make a lick of sense but it is true. We say we want to be happy but be truth is without our misery we would be lost. Because our misery is part of our self identity. Twisted as that is. If you really truly wanted happiness you would BE happy. Because be misery exists only in your mind. So this song isn't really garbage at all. It's quite profound. But the music video sucks balls and the music is no good either. Heard it all before. Lame

But I do enjoy the redhead in the blue mini skirt. That part is okay

Ah yes I think we all know someone who thrives on drama and misery. It is a trait of youth that is at times carried over. Me personally though. I don't want to suffer. And its true. For the most part suffering is a choice. That is what Victor Frankle wrote about in Man's Search for Meaning. He was a holocaust survivor. And he observed that some people in the concentration camp turned their faces to the wall and died while others lived and kept going. He theorized that it was because those who survived made a choice not to suffer to the extent possible and served others who were also in the concentration camp. That's the ideal I strive for. Once in a while i succeed. We are all in this together. And in this life no one gets out alive to quote the late jim Morrison.
