In The Navy by The Village People

Where can you find pleasure
Search the world for treasure
Learn science technology
Where can you begin to make your dreams all come true
On the land or on the sea
Where can you learn to fly
Play in sports and skin dive
Study oceanography
Sign up for the big band
Or sit in the grandstand
When your team and others meet

In the navy
Yes, you can sail the seven seas
In the navy
Yes, you can put your mind at ease
In the navy
Come on now, people, make a stand
In the navy, in the navy
Can't you see we need a hand
In the navy
Come on, protect the mother land
In the navy
Come on and join your fellow man
In the navy
Come on people, and make a stand
In the navy, in the navy, in the navy (in the navy)

They want you, they want you
They want you as a new recruit

If you like adventure
Don't you wait to enter
The recruiting office fast
Don't you hesitate
There is no need to wait
They're signing up new seamen fast
Maybe you are too young
To join up today
Bout don't you worry 'bout a thing
For I'm sure there will be
Always a good navy
Protecting the land and sea

In the navy
Yes, you can sail the seven seas
In the navy
Yes, you can put your mind at ease
In the navy
Come on be bold and make a stand
In the navy, in the navy
Can't you see we need a hand
In the navy
Come on, protect the motherland
In the navy
Come on and join your fellow man
In the navy
Come on be bold and make a stand
In the navy, in the navy, in the navy (in the navy)

They want you, they want you
They want you as a new recruit

Who me?

They want you, they want you
They want you as a new recruit

But, but, but, I'm afraid of water.
Hey, hey look
Man, I get seasick even watchin' it on the TV!

They want you, they want you in the navy

Oh my goodness.
What am I gonna do in a submarine?

They want you, they want you in the navy

In the navy
Yes, you can sail the seven seas
In the navy
Yes, you can put your mind at ease
In the navy
Come on be bold and make a stand
In the navy, in the navy
Can't you see we need a hand
In the navy
Come protect the motherland
In the navy
Come on and join your fellow man
In the navy
Come on be bold and make a stand

I THINK THERE IS A PRETTY GOOD CHANCE TAKING PART IN SUBMARINE RACES TOO... OR AT LEAST POLISHING THEM.

This song was actually commissioned by the navy to get people to join. Wow. A stupid song. Having it sing by pigs is not funny. The muppet pigs never worked. Never. Hate them. I would love to go back in time and be a fly on the wall while they recorded this song. What were they thinking?

Well I enjoyed the Muppet rendition myself

And I thought the other pigs were rather hilarious at times

It's just that - although she was funny, Miss Piggy could be abrasive at times

and I thought that fact cast a dark shadow on pigs in general within the Muppet world

Now as for this song, yeah this one's pretty silly

I wonder how many people were actually influenced by this song to the point of enlisting

and what affect did the YMCA song have on attendance?

Or was it just a fun dance?

Silly song - funny Muppets

Well, I have serious doubts that Berv would know a funny pig if it ran up and bit him on the ass.

My sister her husband and her kids drove to Oklahoma to hunt wild pigs. Apparently Oklahoma is overrun with pigs. They were all scared because they heard how vicious the pigs are. The dude that sold them the license told them "if you shoot at one you sure as hell better kill it on the first shot because they will come after you." Even though Oklahoma is overrun they saw nothin'. Absolutely nothin'. But every sound made them quake in their boots.

At any rate the pigs were not the best part of Muppets but they had their moments. Like Pigs in Space. And yes, Miss Piggy could be a Bitch but she was funny too. Or at least it was funny when Gonzo tormented her.

Okay I also find it VERY difficult to believe that the Navy would have paid for this song because 1. The Village People were as gay as the day is long and I don't think that they were saying that the Navy was great because they were patriotic but because it was a good place to be around lots of strapping young men living in close quarters. Maybe patriotism figured in there too because I guess they could have sang about the foreign legion or the merchant marines.

Also, the YMCA sued The Village People because, again, they are gay as the day is long and the YMCA at the time was the kind of Cristian organization that would rather set themselves on fire than accept gay folk. I don't think they are that way now. And yes Berv, we know you hate gay folk too so no need to post it again.
