Me mind on fire -- Me soul on fire -- Feeling hot hot hot
Party people -- All around me feeling hot hot hot
What to do - On a night like this
Music sweet - I can't resist
We need a party song - A fundamental jam

So we go rum-bum-bum-bum
Yeah we rum-bum-bum-bum
Feeling hot hot hot -- Feeling hot hot hot - oh Lord

(me la la la lum bum bum)

See people rocking -- Hear people chanting -- Feeling hot hot hot
Keep up this spirit -- Come on let's do it -- Feeling hot hot hot
It's in the air - Celebration time
Music sweet - captivate your mind
We have this party song - This fundamental jam

So we go rum-bum-bum-bum
Yeah we rum-bum-bum-bum
Feeling hot hot hot -- Feeling hot hot hot - Oh Lord

The muppets on Sesame Street sing this song. It is not pleasent to listen to. I once owned a world music mix cd. Something I bought at ameboa music on a whim. It had a version of this song that was kinda fun. But for some reason. Is song seems to lend itself to be picked on and mocked. Man. I actually used to get in the car and drive to hollywood and find a place to park and go inside a huge music store and spend hours looking at new music and buying all kinds of strange new music. I would go home and listen to it and be happy. I will never do this again. Never.

Music mixed with Muppets is a hit or miss scenario

but when they're good, they're great

and when they're bad, they're downright awful

did you know the most effective song used by the govt. to get prisoners to break

....the Barney theme song

Now whenever I see Buster Poindexter - I only see the Ghost of Christmas Past from Scrooged

It is the alpha of his persona in my mind

I remember this video and I thought he was quite over the top at first

Then I realized he was the singer of the New York Dolls

so he always had a flair for the theatrics

and then it all made sense

'Oh yeah it was lightning, everybody was frightening

and the music was soothing, and they all started grooving

...and it turned into a ballroom blitz'

I'm pretty sure this song is tongue in cheek so yes it was meant to be mocked. Poindexter is awesome! I love good stage personas. Bowie had a couple. Then there is Bobcat Goldthwait who when you see him not in his stage persona it is kind of disturbing and he is just a short fat guy. I also think of him mostly as the ghost of Christmas past in Scrooged. But he was also the front man for the New York Dolls. He is also the bartender in A Very Murray Christmas which is the best Christmas special made since Rudolph with its gay elves and racist Santa and reindeer.
