If I Had A Hammer by Peter, Paul, And Mary

If I had a hammer
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening
All over this land

And I'd hammer out danger
I'd hammer out a warning
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land

If I had a bell
I'd ring it in the morning
I'd ring it in the evening
All over this land

I'd ring out danger
I'd ring out a warning
I'd ring out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land, ooh

If I had a song
I'd sing it in the morning
I'd sing it in the evening
All over this land

I'd sing out danger
I'd sing out a warning
I'd sing out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land, ooh

Well I got a hammer
And I got a bell
And I got a song to sing
All over this land

It's the hammer of Justice
It's the bell of Freedom
It's the song about Love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land

It's the hammer of Justice
It's the bell of Freedom
It's the song about Love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land

I can’t claim to know anything about the 60’s since I wasn’t alive but the first part of this song seems pretty good. If I had a hammer by god I would use it and do some good shit with it. If I had a bell by god the things I could do... but then it has this surprise ending. Well I have a hammer, I have a bell, I have a song. It’s the bell of justice, the hammer of freedom and the song that we should all love each other. I like the song part. But the bell and hammer seem corny and more like super hero powers than anything real. What the hell is the hammer of freedom?

Its MC Hammer in baggy pants dancing and saying HAMMER TIME. Now that's freedom. In North Korea you would be executed by anti-aircraft gun. As for Justice... I love the idea of justice but it seems to be hit or miss in this country.
