Soul Man by Sam and Dave

Coming to you on a dusty road
Good loving, I got a truck load
And when you get it, you got something
Don't worry, 'cause I'm coming
I'm a soul man
I'm a soul man
I'm a soul man (come on!)
I'm a soul man
And that ain't all
Got what I got the hard way
And I make it better, each and every day
So honey, said don't you fret
'Cause you ain't seen nothing yet
I'm a soul man
I'm a soul man
I'm a soul man
I'm a soul man, oh
I was brought up on a side street, yes mam
I learned how to love before I could eat
I was educated at woodstock
When I start loving, oh I can't stop
I'm a soul man
I'm a soul man
I'm a soul man (yeah!)
I'm a soul man
Just grab the rope and I'll pull you in
Give you hope and be your only boyfriend
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (yeah!)
I'm talking about a soul man
I'm a soul man
(And you're a) soul man
Soul man (oh lord)
Soul man
(I'm a) soul man
(And you're a) soul man
(And you're a) soul man
Good song... Good movie... Least I thought so when I was 16.

This song was in the blues brothers and yes, as a teenager it influenced much. Also the movie soul man is about a white dude who takes tanning pills to pass himself off as a black. A movie like this would never be made today but at the time it was acceptable. Ultimately there is nothing wrong with this premise. The problem only exists in people’s mind. Silly people

The Blues Brothers sure did make this song iconic

And it is a great song that I've been belting since I was about ten - it's a good one for the shower

The movie is one we try to forget

C. Thomas Howell though, he had a pretty good start to his career

E.T., Outsiders, Red Dawn - that's a nice list

But I checked out his filmography and he's been an actor in over 200 movies/shows

I've seen about 15 of them

He'll pop up in a show you watch every blue moon

-But his films are usually B-movie at best

Kudos for making a living, but I don't think Howell's ever seen a script he wouldn't do

This movie was the beginning of his mediocre descent

It came out in 1986 and the next thing I saw him in was Hidalgo in 2004

But he was real busy during that gap

the only one even heard of was Side Out - a movie about beach volleyball - no thanks, i'll pass

How many have you seen?
