Livin In America by James Brown

Yeah, uh! Get up, now! Ow! Knock out this!

Super highways, coast to coast,
easy to get anywhere
On the transcontinental overload,
just slide behind the wheel
How does it feel

When there's no destination - that's too far
And somewhere on the way,
you might find out who you are

Living in America - eye to eye, station to station
Living in America - hand to hand, across the nation
Living in America - got to have a celebration

Rock my soul

Smokestack, fatback,
many miles of railroad track
All night radio, keep on runnin'
through your rock 'n' roll soul
All night diners keep you awake,
hey, on black coffee and a hard roll

You might have to walk the fine line,
you might take the hard line
But everybody's working overtime

Living in America - eye to eye, station to station
Living in America - hand to hand, across the nation
Living in America - got to have a celebration

I live in America, help me out,
but I live in America,
wait a minute

You might not be looking for the promised land,
but you might find it anyway
Under one of those old familiar names
Like New Orleans (New Orleans),
Detroit City (Detroit City), Dallas (Dallas)
Pittsburg P.A. (Pittsburg P.A.),
New York City (New York City)
Kansas City (Kansas City),
Atlanta (Atlanta), Chicago and L.A.

Living in America - hit me
Living in America - yeah,
I walk in and out
Living in America

I live in America - state lines,
gonna make the prime, that
I live in America - hey,
I know what it means, I

Living in America - Eddie Murphy, eat your heart out
Living in America - hit me, I said now, eye to eye,
station to station
Living in America - so nice, with your bare self
Living in America - I feel good!

Ahhh America. Yes. Sing it loud. Song to all the world at the top of your voice. Sing about the romantic USA. It's late might diners. Finding out who you are behind the wheel of your car. All the great music. All the hopes and dreams. But do it quickly. Because if you wait too long you will miss it. The diners the highways the dance floors and the beach parties will all be gone soon. This country was founded on an unsustainable system and we are running on fumes. Enjoy it while you can Mr. Brown. Cuz it's over

You gotta be fucking kidding me. A mormon trying to understand the black experience in America. How full-of-shit you gotta be? Whatever whitey from the land of Utah. This posting just screams, "I'm white and from Utah!". Fuckin'-A Chris, your whiteness even pisses me off. My irish-ass is a blushin' for your sad ass. Fuckin' whitey-ass cracker motherfucker.

All this song reminds me of is Rocky IV. I remember watching that horrible movie and when I saw an aging James Brown emerge and start to sing this song, it just made me sad. This is what his career had come to. Performing a song for a sequel, now that is sinking low. Wasn't Dolph Lundgren in that movie? Wow!
It's comforting to know that we can always go back and listen to some classic songs from the Godfather of soul, but this gem is not one of them.

Unsustainable yes. But Mr. Brown isn't enjoying anything because he is dead and has been for a long time.

Bastardo really vattano get real.

And Mr. Tschirhart excellent comment. Except I think Brown being in that movie is perfect for who he was. He did whatever the hell he wanted when he wanted and didn't care what anyone said. I'm sure he was in that movie because he knew it was terrible but it was a way to make a few thou and be done with it. They just interviewed a bunch of his friends because a movie about him is about to open that is not too flattering. All of them said... well that's how he really was. He was not a nice guy. But he is the godfather of soul.

That's enough for me. Its like Miles Davis. He was an ass but his music was awesome.

You're an ass...and you suck. You can't even see who's sitting here and endlessly berating you. You need a fucking hobby that has some meaning. Your son beating the shit out of you has more meaning than this shatola. For fucks sake Chris!
