Ahead by a Century by The Tragicallly Hip

First thing we'd climb a tree and maybe then we'd talk
Or sit silently and listen to our thoughts
With illusions of someday casting a golden light
No dress rehearsal, this is our life

And that's where the hornet stung me
And I had a feverish dream
With revenge and doubt
Tonight we smoke them out

You are ahead by a century (this is our life)
You are ahead by a century (this is our life)
You are ahead by a century

Stare in the morning shroud and then the day began
I tilted your cloud, you tilted my hand
Rain falls in real time and rain fell through the night
No dress rehearsal, this is our life

But that's when the hornet stung me
And I had a serious dream
With revenge and doubt
Tonight we smoke them out

You are ahead by a century (this is our life)
You are ahead by a century (this is our life)
You are ahead by a century

You are ahead by a century (this is our life)
You are ahead by a century (this is our life)
You are ahead by a century

And disappointing you is getting me down

I LIVE IN EXACTLY THE TIME AND PLACE I WAS MEANT TO BE... I KNOW BECAUSE HERE I AM... NO MYSTERY HERE

We all live like we are in dress rehearsal. Never the play. Once we are ready for the actual show we die. I wish it could be different but it can't. Life passes us by. We can not ever be happy. Sad

When we do actually step on stage though, we are truly in the moment

They say there's nothing quite like LIVE theater for the actor

All bets are off, anything goes - and all of us have been there

Very sad about the lead singer, but good for him for having one last hurrah

First time listener - but they have some cool songs

It makes me think of all the bands I've never even heard of

& all the great songs I may never discover due to the great variety of music in our little ol world

Sure it can make you feel small, but you should feel special, too

Well... as aware of my mortality as I became at age 21 when I got sick... as much as I knew the importance of being in the moment was and for the most part enjoyed life as it came... I still woke up one day suprised to be 44. I think as humans one of or greatest assets and faults is a concept of future. We are always on stage. There really is no beginning or end. Except for when we come out and when we are planted. Even that is not real. Things die always. And things are born always
