Think by Aretha Franklin

Think (think) think (think) think (think)
Think (think) think (think) think (think)

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

Let's go back, let's go back, let's go way on way back when
I didn't even know you, you couldn't have been too much more than ten. (just a child)
I ain't no psychiatrist, I ain't no doctor with degrees
It don't take too much high IQ's to see what you're doing to me

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

Oh freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, yeah freedom
Freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, ooh freedom

There ain't nothing you could ask I could answer you but I won't (I won't)
I was gonna change, but I'm not, if you keep doing things I don't

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

People walking around everyday, playing games, taking scores
Trying to make other people lose their minds.
Well be careful, you're gonna lose yours.

Yeah, think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

You need me (need me) and I need you (don't you know)
Without each other there ain't nothing we can do

Oh freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, yeah freedom
Freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, ooh freedom

There ain't nothing you could ask I could answer you but I won't (I won't)
I was gonna change, but I'm not, if you're doing things I don't

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

You need me (need me) and I need you (don't you know)
Without each other there ain't nothing we can do

(Think about - ah me, think about - ah me,
Think about - ah me, think about it)
(Think about - ah me, think about - ah me,
Think about - ah me, think about it)
(Think about - ah me, think about - ah me,
Think about - ah me, think about it)
(Think about - ah me, think about - ah me,
Think about - ah me, think about it)
You had better stop and think before you think, think!

DON'T MESS WITH THE QUEEN OF SOUL....

Hmmmm This song actually makes very little sense. I never really paid too much attention to the lyrics but I always assumed it was about a woman telling her man to shape up and treat her right. At least that’s what I assumed from the blues brothers. But it’s actually kinda all over the place. I wish I could give specific examples but I had to get to a different web page to actually read the lyrics because I can’t actually read lyrics in a light yellow font against a white background (surprise surprise) and if I go back to that page then this page will close. So fuck it. But I can say there is stuff in there about I ain’t ever gonna actually tell you something and freedom and let’s go back in time. Very odd.

So should I think about what I'm trying to do to you or just let myself be free?

She does seem to favor the 'freedom' part of the quandary throughout the song

But honestly, I could go either way

Praise the great Queen of Soul

Did you know she was a big Beatles fan?

She actually covered quite a few of their tunes and they loved what she did with them

She's one of the few that can cover a Beatles tune and pull it off

And when the Beatles were recording the song 'Let It Be', Paul sent her a copy of it, knowing what she could do with it

Her version even came out before the Beatles did

And they loved that one too

I will have to track down these Beatles covers. Pretty much anything she touched was awesome. As for the yellow on white background... I have no idea how you are accessing the blog but its a black background in the web version. But you must access it from some half ass version. Oh well. No matter.
