Movin' On Up by Ja'net

Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.

Fish don't fry in the kitchen;
Beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lotta tryin',
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin' our turn at bat.
As long as we live, it's you and me baby,
There ain't nothin wrong with that.

Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.

I THOUGHT WEEZA WAS THE FUNNIEST THING EVER

This song was the theme song to the Jeffersons. It encourages superficial wealth and promotes capitalistic ideals. I disagree with it. However because of the era that it was written it also encouraged equal opportunity for minorities. It was the first show that had black couple living wealthy among the white folk. So I suppose that was a step in the right direction. But ultimately it's garbage. But I did love this song as a kid. It's full of soul

This show was awesome. I thought Weeza was the raddest person in the world. I also remember being amazed at the interracial couple who also live in the building. It is a spin off of All In The Family which is also a rad show.

This was always one of my favorite theme songs of the 70's, and there was also Sanford & Son, Good Times, and Welcome Back Kotter! The cheesiness of The Love Boat, and I always got the theme song from Soap stuck in my head. It was a funky time.
