John Wayne and Jesus by Pat Green

I met John Wayne and Jesus when I was just a kid
They both had on their cowboy hats just like I'd pictured them
I stood up at the front of the class waving my American flag
I said the pledge, sang amber waves of grain

And(But) I sing all the songs of America
Danced in the rain in Lafayette
I'm still hanging out with John Wayne and Jesus
And I know this is good as life can get

Well, I had big time when I was down in Houston
Well, I fell in love and moved out to New Orleans
Well, she said so long, now I'm here all alone
She's still got a little bitty piece of me

And(But) I sing all the songs of America
Danced in the rain in Lafayette
I'm still hanging out with John Wayne and Jesus
And I know this is good as life can get

Well John Wayne and Jesus moved out to Hollywood
Workin' behind the scenes on MTV
Me I'm standing right down here in Texas
And I know that's where I was always meant to be

And(But) I sing all the songs of America
Danced in the rain in Lafayette
I'm still hanging out with John Wayne and Jesus
And I know this is good as life can get
WOW... I THOUGH THERE WOULD BE A LITTE IRONY HERE BUT NOPE... JESUS AND JOHN STRAIGHT UP...

As of today, December 16th 2018 is the earliest possible date we could reach 2000 songs.

Not sure what this song means. I do find it pretty awesome the he was able to rhyme the words KID and THEM. John Wayne died with 60 lbs of extra shit storred in his intestines. Jesus died with an empty belly nailed to a tree.

I think my favorite John Wayne movie was Rio Bravo.

I was born in West Lafayette, but he's probably singing about a different one. Come to think of it, where is Lafayette....

Well, the first hit was Lafayette, Louisiana - which is fitting.

Hmm, the more you know.

& on that note ~ a group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope.
