I Will Possess Your Heart by Death Cab for Cutie

How I wish you could see the potential
The potential of you and me
It's like a book elegantly bound
But in a language that you can't read just yet
You gotta spend some time, love
You gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you'll find love
I will possess your heart
You gotta spend some time, love
You gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you'll find love
I will possess your heart
There are days when outside your window
I see my reflection as I slowly pass
And I long for this mirrored perspective
When we'll be lovers, lovers at last
You gotta spend some time, love
You gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you'll find love
I will possess your heart
You gotta spend some time, love
You gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you'll find love
I will possess your heart
I will possess your heart
I will possess your heart
You reject my advances and desperate pleas
I won't let you let me down so easily
So easily
You gotta spend some time, love
You gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you'll find love
I will possess your heart
You gotta spend some time, love
You gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you'll find love
I will possess your heart
You gotta spend some time, love
You gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you'll find love
I will possess your heart
I will possess your heart
I will possess your heart

UH DUDE... I DON'T MEAN TO RAIN ON YOUR PARADE BUT THIS AINT THE WAY TO WIN A GIRL'S HEART... IN FACT NOW IN THE 'ME TOO' ERA YOU ARE LIKELY TO GET ARRESTED OR WORSE.

Yep this one's creepy

I mean it's pretty much straight up stalking

Reminiscent of 'Every Breath You Take' by The Police

Death Cab For Cutie has a very distinct sound

I either really like the song, or I can't stand it - there's no in-between

They go to the extremes

I do enjoy the choice for Valentine's Day though

Death cab for cutie is yet another band that Nic Harcourt played way too much of back in the day. I’m not really a fan of bands with “creative” names but I suppose people are free to do what they want and I’m sure many people love it.
Yes yes this song is creepy but it was written in an era when it was okay for men to be creepily in love and express it in a song. I certainly can remember having such strong feelings about a woman.
