Runaway by Del Shannon

As I walk along, I wonder
A-what went wrong with our love
A love that was so strong

And as I still walk on, I think of
The things we've done together
While our hearts were young

I'm a-walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain
Wishin' you were here by me
To end this misery

I wonder
I wah-wah-wah-wah-wonder
Why
Why, why, why, why, why
She ran away

And I wonder
Where she will stay
My little runaway
A-run, run, run, run, runaway

I'm a-walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain
Wishin' you were here by me
To end this misery

And I wonder
I wah-wah-wah-wah-wonder
Why
Why, why, why, why, why
She ran away

And I wonder
Where she will stay
My little runaway
A-run, run, run, run, runaway
A-run, run, run, run, runaway
A-run, run, run, run, runaway

I think a little rain is t gonna be enough to stop a track meet. This song is up there in my mind with Steve Miller band space cowboy and horse with no name. Songs that have such a unique sound. Like nothing ever heard before. And also a bit haunting and horrible. Maybe it’s the strange musical solo. Anyway. This is one of those songs that will just happen to be in your head randomly as you are taking your last breath

~ And the song will live on

It's a classic, hands down, one that everyone knows

It always reminds me of the movie 'American Graffiti'

I'm sure it's on other soundtracks -

- But this one imprinted itself into my brain when I watched the movie as a wee lad

it's got one one of those unavoidable hooks

It's already stuck in your head, while you're still putting on your shoes
