Muskrat Love by America

Muskrat, muskrat candlelight
Doin' the town and doin' it right
In the evenin'
It's pretty pleasin'

Muskrat Susie, Muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbug out in muskrat land
And they shimmy
And Sammy's so skinny

And they whirled and they twirled and they tangoed
Singin' and jingin' the jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
It looks like muskrat love

Nibbling on bacon, chewin' on cheese
Sammy says to Susie "Honey, would you please be my missus?"
And she say yes
With her kisses

And now he's ticklin' her fancy
Rubbin' her toes
Muzzle to muzzle, now anything goes
As they wriggle, and Sue starts to giggle

And they whirled and they twirled and they tangoed
Singin' and jingin' the jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
It looks like muskrat love

La da da da da ...

OKAAAAYYYY... WELL, TO EACH HIS OWN I SUPPOSE...

the word “muskrat” does not seem to fit with this smooth relaxing music. Also “nibbling on bacon and cheese” takes away from the smooth love vibe. America is a good 70’s band. I wish I was an adult in the 70’s. It would have been glorious

Yes, the 70's were indeed a pretty rad time. The end of the Viet Nam war and the beginning of 15 years of America mostly minding its own Goddamn business. The emergence of the feminist movement. Some funky clothing. Some really good movie making. I often hear commentators say it was an innocent time. I don't think this is true at all. In fact I think America was much more self aware then than it is now. We were just less nasty to each other for a while.
